Must-Wins
You know all those times when you would hear someone say a certain situation is a “must-win” but it was really just for the benefit of easing the stress on the mind? Well now for the Giants they are faced with a must-win, then a must-win, and then another must-win, otherwise their season is done. They are only guaranteed one of these games though, so although they did pack for extra days in the Midwest, it’s not going to mean anything if they can’t push any runners across. (The Giants are 0-for-7 with RISP with 1 HR in the two games; Reds are 6-for-17 with RISP with 3 HR.)
The Giants really would love it if a starter could go more than 5 innings. Their fans would, too, but I mean, those first two games were just frustrating.
Anyway, this is what we know about Games 3 and 4. Vogey vs. Bailey, then Zito vs. ???. I’d think the Reds are waiting to see if Cueto can give it a go and if he can, go with him, and if not, hand the ball to Latos. The media and fans will worry more about that if the situation arises.
We’ve seen two nights in a row in Baltimore of games getting delayed by weather, so you may be wondering what the weather out in Ohio is like:
So basically, it’s a colder San Francisco (game time temps for the two games: 61 and 59 degrees), so the Giants will be right at home playing on the road while the Reds will be… right at home.
2:30PM, TBS. There’s no game before it, so there’s no need to worry about changing it to TNT.
Here’s a picture of Brandon Crawford from SFGate:
Those eyes, man. Those eyes. Also it blows me away that I’m older than Brandon Crawford. Excuse me while I go cry over not being a MLB-quality SS when I was his age.
